Youth Advisory Council Application

Councilmember applications and Committee member applications will be available year-round.

We will begin accepting applications and doing interviews for LSYAC positions at the start of the next school year (September or October).

Here’s the difference:

COUNCIL MEMBERS-There are 12 youth on the council as of now. Responsibilities include: meeting weekly with city council members to organize the council, plan/participate in service projects, and work on ways to improve Lake Stevens and help with any of the council’s needs.
Being a member of the Youth Advisory Council will give you experience in working with the city council, learning about local government, developing leadership skills, and will give you a voice in your community. Although very rewarding, being on the council comes with a LOT of responsibilities, so please keep this in mind as you are applying.

The responsibilities of council members are much greater than those of committee members. If you can't meet the requirements listed on the application or can't make time for being on the council, but still want to help out in the community, then applying to be a committee member would be great for you!

COMMITTEE MEMBERS-In this committee, youth are able to participate in community service and help work on projects alongside the city council without all the responsibilities that come with being on the main council. You are not required to attend weekly meetings or any city council meetings. You are only required to submit an application (having an interview will not be necessary).  Being a committee member allows you to have a voice in the community, learn about local government, and help serve the community (while also giving you community service hours).

If you would like to receive updates on our service projects, follow our Instagram (lakestevens.youth) and join our remind (download the app, and use the code: lsyac)
